Scenario: You've just crafted a delicious Primal burger or chicken sandwich. As you are about to dig in, you realize something is missing.....WHERE ARE ALL THE CONDIMENTS??? Ditch the sugar/preservative-loaded bottles from your fridge and invest in something like this...
BAM! You are now ready to mix up some sauces, and keep those taste buds purring. Benefits of blending your own? Lower sugar, natural ingredients, a dose of antioxidants (from tomato and olive oil), preservative-free, and a new found confidence in your kitchen. WHAT'S UP. SHUT UP.

Lesson #1: Paleo Aioli---pa...pa...Palioli!

2 egg yolks
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 Tbsp. dijon mustard
2 cloves minced garlic
1 cup first cold press olive oil
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 tsp. sea salt

Blend all ingredients EXCEPT THE OLIVE OIL in a food processor or blender until incorporated. Yup, just throw it in, mix it all about. SAVE THE OLIVE OIL THOUGH! VERY SLOWLY, drizzle olive oil in while blending. Can't emphasize SLOWLY enough. It will make or break the consistency of your Palioli. Drizzling the olive oil and being patient (Yeah, I know you just want to dump it all in and call it a day) thickens the mix to a rich consistency.
Once all the oil is in, store your proud jar of Palioli in the fridge to let it set and thicken more. Then pull it out to jazz up burgers, dip veggies in, drizzle over crab cakes... whatever gets ya going.

Lesson #2: Primal Ketchup [spruce your burger the caveman way!]

Got this little gem of a recipe off my favorite Primal Blogger's site, Mark's Daily Apple. [More on Mark and other great sources in future posts!]

6 ounces tomato paste
2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup water
2 tbsp of honey or your preferred sugar substitute (optional)
2 tbsp onions
2 cloves garlic
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground allspice
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp pepper

Instructions: SUPER easy. Blend 'em. All of 'em. Until smooth. Done and done.

If you are anything like me, you will seriously come to tears when you realize you can once again indulge in ketchup. I LOVE ketchup. In a bad way. I could slather it on nearly everything; burgers, scrambled eggs, avocados, grilled chicky,.. a spoon? BUT I won't. Moderation is key, especially if you opt to use honey, which I recommend, as it still contains sugar and carbohydrates.

Alright, get in there, mix up some caveman condiments, and make me proud!

Juno

Looking for a fun way to save cash, have fun, feel good, AAAND get a dose of exercise? HIKE! So simple, so easy, so... free. As in, you can spend as long or as short as you feel like doing it, and there is no charge, aside from an occasional parking fee if you visit a National Park or private area. We got the perfect dose of natural beauty, QT [quality time, c'mon get with it], and pure ass-whoopin' today at Cedar Creek Falls Trail. The drive up to the trailhead [near Julian, CA] is windy and daunting, but the canyon and waterfall views are worth twice that drive. I'll leave you a few pics of Devil's Punchbowl, our summit, to further convince any in doubt. Lucky for us, the trail was pretty lonely. In a good way. Unlike other popular hikes around SD County [cough cough.. Cowles Mtn. cough cough...] Cedar Creek tends to eliminate casual hikers with it's slow, long uphill climb out, giving it a more removed, rugged feel. Lucky for you, though, I have a TON of favorite hikes around the area, which you can find here or here or for those with canine companions [doggies, dude!] check here. Also, The San Diego version of Afoot & Afield has some nifty maps and trail info.... Amazon that ishhhh here.

So obviously, after hiking you will want to..... do an excessive amount of yardwork/clean the gutters? NOPE. You want to refresh and refuel a.k.a. shower and EAT FOOD. Not just any food...no. DELICIOUS PRIMAL FOOD! Great for your body, and a gift to your taste buds!!

We grubbed on this Ahi Tuna Recipe thanks to the fine people of Paleo Effect. Great resource if you want to try out some new Paleo Recipes that taste amazing and leave you feeling fit and satisfied---not bloated and sleepy like most of the processed carb meals some peeps have become accustomed to. If you already eat either Paleo or Primal, you know this is one of the great benefits of the lifestyle. If you are new to it, or considering ditching fake food for nature's bounty, just ask questions, and above all, get excited. I mean, try it. Eat real food, feel better. Win/Win!

I'm HERE.
That is to say, I've created my very first blog [El Numero Uno]. It will be insightful. It will be witty. It will be inspiring. But mostly, it will be laughable, as I have no former training on the interwebs and if any of the posts actually make it to other readers' computer screens I will consider it a great success.

HELLO! Today marks my 10th week of living Primal, a healthful manner of eating, exercising, and thinking. I'm coming in clear from beautiful San Diego with some raw life experience in hopes that it will motivate and assist anyone who is delving into this amazing lifestyle themselves. What to expect now? Daily (or weekly.... eh) updates on my own challenges and feats, guest posts from Paleo and Primal experts, links to useful info or hilarious images (gotta have both), and tons of BOMB food recipes that will taste delish and make ur body strong. Ready... set... you get it.

Primally yours,

Juno
